Bajaj Auto launched the refreshed versions of its popular cruiser, the Avenger after almost a decade. The launch, which took place in October last year, saw the number of variants rise to 3 variants from one single variant earlier. The Avenger is now available in 3 trims, the Street 150, Street 220 and the Cruise 220. Our focus today though, is not on these variants, but on an upcoming variant rumoured to be in the making.

Reports suggest that the two wheeler manufacturer is reportedly working on a larger capacity variant of the Avenger which could be christened as the Avenger 400. The Avenger 400 is expected to come mated to the 373.4 cc single cylinder engine that is currently seen on the Duke 390 as well as the RC390. This engine though, will be offered in a different state of tune as it would be based on the cruiser platform once it is mated to the Avenger.
Once launched, the Avenger 400 is likely to take on products from the Royal Enfield stable. The news comes days after the Bajaj CS 400 was reported to reach the production line. The new Avenger series has received a good response as well with the company selling almost 31,000 units last month as compared to its initial target of 9000 units per month.

Although engine specifications of this upcoming motorcycle from the house of Bajaj have not been revealed, one can expect a fuel injection system and liquid cooling. As a cruiser, the bike will be more focused on the torque figure rather than the power output. A 6 speed transmission could also be on the cards. The current 373.4 cc engine on the KTM 390 series produces 43 hp of power and 35 Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 6 speed transmission.
Once launched, the Bajaj Avenger 400 would rival the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350, the UM Renegade range as well as the Hyosung Aquila 250.
