Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team is all geared up for one of the toughest racing events in the world. After its power packed debut in 2015 Dakar rally, the team will participate in the 38th edition of Dakar rally which is set to kick-start from January 2, 2016 at Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Three international riders will represent the Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team. Alain Duclos and Florent Vayssade from France with Joan Pedrero from Spain will take on the 9,319 kilometre Dakar route. Joan Pedrero (Rider No.17) has already participated in seven editions of the Dakar, with finishing in the top 10 in every season which includes two 5th positions.
The 2016 Dakar rally will mark the 14th appearance of Alain Duclos (Rider No. 20). He has been racing for Sherco since 2013 and has been a top performer for the team.
For Florent Vayssade (Rider No. 60) This 2016 event will be his 2ndDakar Rally. Earlier, Florent Vayssade caught the attention of Sherco after his impressive display at the Rally Raid in Morocco.
The 2016 Dakar rally route will have riders navigate through Argentina and Bolivia with increasing level of difficulty as the race advances. The rally will comprise of 14 stages out of which 4,701 kilometers are special stages. The 14-day rally will conclude at Villa Carlos Paz – Rosario on January 16, 2016.
Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team riders will get the 2016 RTR 450 Racing model in this edition of the Dakar. The RTR 450 has undergone substantial development work done by the engineers and technicians of TVS and Sherco. The new tech-mech development has increased the RTR 450’s engine performance and reliability while being light weight. The 2016 RTR 450 racing model is powered by 449.40cc 4 stroke DOHC, 4 valve Sherco technology engine with Synerject digital electronic fuel injection. The power from the engine is pushed to the wheel by a 6 speed sequential gearbox.
Commenting on the occasion Arvind Pangaonkar, Head of Team TVS Racing said that the Dakar Rally is the ultimate motorcycling challenge from a technical standpoint with racing for two weeks across incredibly hostile environments. The close co-operation of TVS and Sherco to learn and share makes their partnership stronger. The dynamic relationship between the two will enable them to develop increasingly competitive products.
