Revealed: Volkswagen Beetle GSR and the R-Line Convertible

From CUTE to HOT! Volkswagen has just given the Beetles a refreshment dose. With the first being the GSR (Gelb Schwarzer Renner meaning Yellow Black Racer) flaunting its big “Tornado” 19 inch wheels with ultra low profile 235 section tyres. The wide rubber is there for a reason as the Beetle now pumps 210 bhp from the 2.0 litre turbo charged inline four TSI engine pushing the modern Bug past 200 clicks (electronically limited).

Standard shifters come as a 6 speed manual transmission, but a dual clutch DSG 6-speed transmission would be available as an option. Other few prominent goodies include a panoramic sunroof; Keyless access with push-button start; Bi-Xenon headlights with LED DRLs; heatable front seats and three-color ambient lighting.

The second variant is the R-Line Convertible, though not as visually overwhelming as the Yellow retains all the goodies from the GSR with that added wind-in-the-hair experience. Both cars have respective branded interiors (GSR & R-Line). The GSR will be sold at a limited 3500 units and sales of both would commence from September this year.
