India Speed Week 2016 Day 2: Drag Racing and Fastest Wheelie

It is day two of the India Speed Week 2016 and the air-strip of the Behala Flying Club is all set to be converted into a Drag-racing strip. Participating cars and bikes are prepping up to melt down the tarmac of the venue. For the bike event, the 2-stroke category will be divided into two sub categories – M1 and M2. M1 will have bikes from 100cc to 225cc whereas the M2 will have 250cc to 360cc. Similarly the 4-stroke category will be divided into three sub category with M3 (100cc to 225cc), M4 (250cc to 360cc), and the M5 ( 361cc to 500cc).

This two wheeler event will also have a race for an Indian open category (O1), and Indian Cruisers(P2). For enthusiats, a Fastest Wheelie (Indian bikes) competition will be held at the end. Along with the two-wheeler madness, the India Speed Week will also have a race for Indian Street-Stock and Pro-Stock cars. Also, C,K,G Class cars will be included.

India Speed Week 2016 collaborated with Elite Octane Inc. and was approved by The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India. the event was attended by Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, Tollywood’s Parambrata. and renowned Indian Football player- Baichung Bhutia.

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Kumar Modi, Chairman, ISW said that on India Speed Week and the auto industry – he has been an auto industry entrepreneur and also owns dealerships. He has seen excitability good cars and bikes and how people are involved. He further added that they need a platform and India Speed Week has provided it. It is working out thus far. Modi is very happy with what they have done so far, day three promises the best out of the best.

On the occasion, Director, Elite Octane Inc & FMSCI Drag Racing Committee Member, Rongom Tagore Mukerji expressed that the India Speed Week was conceptualized with his enthusiasm for the game at its heartstrings. As a former Drag Racing participant and a part of the industry for over 16 years, the sheer scope and popularity of this sport has increased since the first year of its inception.This is indeed one of those very few sports where-in one could participate in a safe and controlled environment without the fear of endangering their lives. The team envision to continue the journey to take it to the next level with ISW 2016. Drag Racing is truly the T20 of Motorsports and Elite Octane’s commitment to take it to its rightful place will increase with each passing day.
