VW Group’s Bentley luxury car brand has showcased the world’s fastest four-seater convertible- the Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible at the ongoing 2013 Detroit Motor Show.
Powering the convertible is a W12, 6.0-litre, twin-turbo motor with 616bhp-800Nm of max peak-torque. The W12 motor is mated to an 8-speed ‘quickshift’ ZF automatic transmission. All that power is transmitted to all four wheels in 40:60 ratio.
Braking duties are courtesy 420 mm cross-drilled carbon ceramic brakes at front and 356 mm units at rear.
To retain the class leading handling prowess, the upcoming Continental GT Speed variant gets updated double-wishbone and multi-link rear suspension that sport stiffer bushes and anti-roll bars. The car also rides 10mm lower.
The GT Speed convertible tips the scale at 2,500 kgs and still manages to dismiss the 100 kmph figure from standstill in a quick 4.1 seconds. The car has a top whack of 325 kmph.
