The 2016 Chevrolet Trailblazer face-lift has been unveiled in Brazil, and while a launch is still a couple of weeks away, the prices have already been announced. Prices provided for the LTZ grades are R$ 159,990 (INR 30.41 lakhs) for the petrol variant and R$ 189,990 for the diesel model.

Based on the pickup-platform vehicle (PPV), also underpinning the Colorado truck, the new Trailblazer has already been previewed by the Trailblazer Premier Concept from the Bangkok International Motor Show in March. The face-lift adds sharper headlamps, along a new dual port grille with chrome trim inserts. The front bumper is also new, and along with the new face, make the Trailblazer more urbane to look at. At the back, nothing has changed except for a new tail-lamp cluster design and anew rear bumper. The top-of-the-range LTZ grades will comes with 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels and new sidesteps. Size wise, the 2016 Chevrolet Trailblazer measures 4,800 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 2,850 mm tall.

Inside, the dashboard design has shifted to become more contemporary and plush. Gone is 70’s telephone dial from the centre console, and in comes more modern rotary knobs. Taking centre stage is Chevrolet’s second-generation eight-inch MyLink2 touchscreen infotainment system, updated for improved smartphone integration, voice command and navigation. It now supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well. Elsewhere, there’s strategic application of chrome, plusher trim inserts and soft-touch plastic. The revised instrument cluster now comes with a new multi-info display, digital speedometer, maintenance intervals and oil life cycle.

Range-topping LTZ grades will come equipped with automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, an electro-chromatic rearview mirror, reverse camera, front parking sensors, remote control function for the engine and power windows, automatic climate control and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Furthermore, the vehicle also gets hill-start assist and hill-descent control as standard. The face-lifted Trailblazer will be powered by a 2.8-litre Duramax diesel engine, good for 200 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Also on offer will be a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine with 279 hp and 357 Nm of torque. Both engines will be paired to a six-speed automatic transmission as standard.

As for safety, the 2016 Chevrolet Trailblazer promises front, side and curtain airbags, Isofix points and ABS with EBD, traction control and electronic stability programme (ESP). Driver assistance technologies such as blind spot warning, lane-change assist, front collision warning and reverse camera with cross-traffic alert will be on the offing as well.
