Although the waiting period for the automatic version currently stands at 3-months, expect that time-frame to rise, as the Tata Zest XMA F-Tronic can be booked for an initial amount of Rs. 21,000. Dealers state that the majority of the inquiries have been pouring in for the AMT diesel vatiant.

The car’s other variants too command a waiting period of between 1.5 to 2 months, as the ‘Revotron’ engine with selectable driving modes is also garnering a lot of interest. Magneti-Marelli, the Italian component manufacturer, which supplies the automatic gearbox in the Zest, has stepped up its production facilities to keep up with the demand. Apparently, they also happen to be the supplier for the AMT module in the Maruti Celerio, which commands a waiting period that extends for over a year!
