Mitsubishi Introduces Seven Seater Variant Of The Outlander

The less talked about Mitsubishi recently managed to grab some attention with the launch of the Pajero Sport. While the buzz on the new machine is yet to settle down, the Japanese carmaker has introduced another variant in its model lineup. The company has quietly introduced a seven seater variant of Outlander SUV. The good looking SUV, which boasts great handling and some nice features has been liked by many, but hasn’t managed to sell in good numbers owing to the lack of a diesel option.

The new seven seater variant now has a third row of seats. Priced at Rs 19.95 lakh rupees, the seven seater variant is positioned about Rs 1 lakh below the 5 seater variant. The third row of seats on the new variant doesn’t make much sense though, as the leg room is next to non-existent there and there is hardly any padding for the back and buttocks. This last row of seats is foldable, will make space for luggage if need be, and that’s what it’ll precisely be doing 90 percent of the time with the kind of leg room it offers.

No changes have been made to the engine, and the Outlander continues to be propelled by a 2.4 liter, 4 cylinder MIVEC unit putting out close to 170 horses and about 225Nm of torque. Good figures, those, but nothing quite matches a nice diesel heart for such a machine in India.

The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander

Mitsubishi have already displayed their 2013 Outlander at the Geneva Motor Show, and we can soon expect it to be here. We honestly believe that the current gen car looks better. Also, we hope the new gen vehicle comes with a diesel option when it lands here.
