Honda launches Dream Yuga commuter motorcycle in Mumbai at Rs 48,028 ex-showroom

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) launched their first mass motorcycle in Mumbai- the Dream Yuga. The Dream Yuga was launched at Delhi a few weeks ago and took a month to come to this part of the country. The motorcycle was launched in the presence of Mr. Keita Muramatsu- President & CEO, Honda Motorcycles & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd and Mr. Yadvinder Guleria- Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

The event was punctuated with the showcasing of Honda’s history in the two wheeler industry and in his speech, Mr. Muramatsu described the launch of the Dream Yuga as a “Dream for a billion Indians”. He mentioned the event as a part of Honda’s three pronged Corporate Direction elaborating on Honda’s vision to COMMUNICATE through its rational Indian brand slogan “Sach Kar Denge Sapne”, CONNECT emotionally with customers of all demographics and psychographics and CREATE a new benchmark with the Dream Yuga.

Mr. Yadvinder Guleria added “Dream Yuga at its attractive pricing is ideal for those who desire a robust, reliable, easy to maintain, highly fuel efficient yet stylish bike. We are confident that Dream Yuga will be a huge success and create a new benchmark for mass mobility in India.”

The Q&A session followed and various questions related to Honda’s strategy and plans were queried by the members of the press. It emerged from this session that Honda aims to annually sell 3,00,000 units of Dream Yuga and augment their dealership & aftersales service base from the current 1500 to 2000 in the Financial Year 2012-2013.

Honda also answered a few of our questions regarding Honda’s plans for the performance segment.

Q) Do you have any plans to add to the performance segment in India post the CBR250R launch?

A) We already have bikes like the CBR1000R, the Fireblade, the VFR and the VT1300CX. You have a complete range of performance motorcycles in India from the Honda stable.

Q) These bikes cost very high up the graph when compared to the affordable performance segment. Are there any plans to bring in an affordable 400-600cc motorcycle, probably a 4 cylinder in the range of 4-5 lacs bracket?

A) Product launch is a continuous process and we will be bringing new products in course of time. But right now we are focusing on the smaller capacity segment.

The Dream Yuga would be available in 5 colours. Black, Monsoon Grey Metallic, Alpha Red Metallic, Force Silver Metallic and Maple Brown Metallic and would come in three variants with pricing as follows (ex-showroom, Mumbai):

Kick/Drum/Spoke        :           Rs.48,028/-

Kick/Drum/Alloy         :           Rs.49,592/-
