We were among the first to report when it emerged that the Audi R8 V10 Plus was headed to India. We reported in detail when the new flagship variant from the popular German premium car maker made its public debut. The much talked about Audi R8 V10 Plus is among the latest additions to the R8 line-up and has now been launched in India for an eye-watering price of INR 2.05 crores.
The new Audi R8 V10 Plus is powered by a 5.2 litres V10 engine that comes from Audi group owned Italian exotic car maker Lamborghini. This is the same engine that also powers other R8 variants like the R8 Spyder and the R8 V10 Coupe. For the R8 V10 Plus flagship variant though, the engine has been tuned for having a higher power and torque output. In the new Audi R8 V10 Plus, this Lamborghini sourced 5.2 litres V10 engine has a max power output of 550 bhp and develops a peak torque figure of 540Nm. All this translates into an increase of 25bhp and 10Nm over the Audi R8 Spyder and V10 Coupe variants. All the power is transmitted to the four wheels by a 7-speed S Tronic gearbox.
The company claims that the Audi R8 V10 Plus can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds and the new R8 V10 Plus variant has a top whack of 317kmph. All this makes the R8 V10 Plus 0.1 second quicker to 100kmph than the V10 Coupe. The car can also attain a top speed which is 3kmph higher. With mind numbing figures like these, the Audi R8 V10 Plus is also the quickest production Audi ever.
Thanks to the recent changes brought by the 2013-14 Union Budget, the new Audi R8 V10 Plus has been priced higher than what we first expected. At this price, the car is considerably more expensive than the Audi R8 V10 Coupe and we believe that the slight increase in performance isn’t exactly justified by the much higher price tag.
