VIDEO- Lewis Hamilton Crashes While Testing the 2014 Mercedes-Petronas WO5

Mercedes F1 team recently unveiled their  2014 racing car- the Mercedes AMG-Petronas W05 at Jerez. The initial testing sessions of the car began, and  after 18 laps, Lewis Hamilton, who was driving the car, went straight into the tyre wall and crashed.

Hamilton didn’t suffer any injury, thanks to the super strong and lightweight carbon fiber nose of the car. Hamilton wasn’t the reason behind the crash as it was later reported that the car had a broken front wing which later caused the crash. Although the season is yet to begin, but this wasn’t really a good debut for the Silver Arrow’s new car.

Here is the video footage of the crash:

Last year, the Brit driver for the Mercedes racing team, had crashed on the same place on his debut. He crashed in turn 1, which led the team to stop the testing session for day 1 last year. But even after these initial mishaps, Lewis went on to secure 4th place in the 2013 F1 driver’s standings. It will be interesting to see if Lewis succeeds in securing a better ranking than last year.
