Upcoming Tata Compact SUV to borrow styling cues from Evoque

It has been almost two decades since Tata Motors came out with the Safari, and although old by all all standards now, that design still appeals to a lot of SUV obsessed buyers across the nation. Now, in an effort to carry that appeal forward, their upcoming compact SUV, codenamed X104, will be styled to look like a mini Range Rover Evoque. According to the report, to clone the tapering roofline from the Evoque and make the SUV appear stylish, the manufacturer has even sacrificed on a bit of rear seat space.

The upcoming Tata compact SUV will also see the debut of their new 1.5-litre diesel engine that is rumored to develop 110bhp, mated to a 6-speed manual box. Although it will carry a power advantage over its rivals, the engine will also be efficient. The Compact SUV will also be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol motor that could produce around 75bhp. The X104 is based on the X1 platform that underpins the Bolt and the Zest, also sharing bits like the steering and suspension. Being a Tata, pricing wise, expect this compact SUV to undercut the competition when launched.
