Toyota is introducing diesel variants for its Etios sedan and the Liva hatchback today in New Delhi. The engine employed in the cars is a fixed geometry turbo variant of the 1.4-liter diesel engine which also powers the Corolla sedan. In its FGT variant, the engine is good for peak power output of 68PS at 3800 rpm and peak torque output of a healthy 170Nm produced at 1800 – 2400 rpm. The diesel variant has been certified by ARAI with a fuel efficiency of 23.59kmpl.

The Etios is available in GD, VD and VXD variants, with GD being the base model. The Liva is available in GD and GD (SP) models.
