It seems like we can go adventure touring on the new Royal Enfield Himalayan much earlier than we had anticipated before. If recent reports, based on Zigwheel’s interaction with an unnamed company insider, are to be believed Royal Enfield may introduce its all new Himalayan as early as November 2015. And if you think that the launch date is too optimistic, wait till you hear about the prices.
Royal Enfield, according to the informant in the company, intends to price the Himalayan below the psychological barrier of Rs 2 lakh. In fact, the Mr. Double “O” went up to the extent of saying that this “go-anywhere” motorcycle will be priced between Rs 1.65 lakh to Rs 1.85 lakh. That’s more optimistic than Vivek Oberoi channeling Heath Ledger’s Joker in Krrish 3 and hey, we are not complaining, but that sounds a lot sanguine.
What I am curious to see is whether Royal Enfield continues to deliver the same thumping exhaust note as the rest of its motorcycles on the Himalayan, or come up with a more smoother, touring friendly motor that is less tiresome and more sonorous. Given the claims in the report, we may not have to wait for much longer to find out. Stay tuned for more updates.

The exhaust note is not like any other Enfield’s on offer . I have seen this bike more than 3times, all the time I saw they were riding it at 90+ kmph . From what I saw , I think it does handles well because the testers were zig zaging through traffic easily . The exhaust note was like something close to ” Duke with thumpers note” . May be i heard it like that because they were riding it at high speeds. I can’t comment on idling note though . Also it does picks up pace quickly.
