Report: VW Polo Cup Round 4 Chennai – Shailesh Bolisetti and Parth Ghorpade Shine

Polo Cup went to Chennai for its fourth round. The qualifying run for the race was in the wet for most of the 20 racers, only a few had the dry track advantage
Championship leader Sailesh Bolisetti, won the 1st race of Round 4 of the Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup India 2010 at the Irungattukottai Race Track. This was Sailesh’s fourth win in this season. Local hero Vikash Anand finished in second position ahead of Parth Ghorpade. The spectacle happened in half wet conditions due to rain showers after the first half of the race.
Winner, Sailesh Bolisetti commented on his win, “This was a really tough race and I am really happy to win over here. The conditions were tough and I was not prepared to take any risks. I had to defend for the last 5 laps but am very happy with my performance today. I will now make some changes to my car for the second race and aim for the podium.”
Second placed Vikash Anand (16 years old) expressed, “It feels great to come second in the inaugural race in Chennai, my hometown. It was a close battle with Sailesh and I had a chance or two to overtake him, but it didn’t work out. I must thank Volkswagen for giving me a great car this weekend.”
Third placed Parth Ghorpade (17 years old) commented, “I was having a really good race and went off as I was trying to pass Sailesh. I am very happy with the pace of the car and am looking forward to challenging for the podium in the next race.”
Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Motorsports, Volkswagen India said, “It feels good to have our first race in Chennai. The whole team has had a really tough weekend with the changing weather conditions. Hats-off to the mechanics for being quick with the tyre changes and getting the cars ready on time. I am looking forward to having many more successful Polo Cup races in Chennai.”

Race 2 of the fourth round of Polo Cup happened in dry conditions, and Parth Ghorpade made the most of the grippy asphalt by coming victorious. He was followed by Mohd. Imran Fahaad Kutty and Imran Majid in second and third place respectively.
