Next-generation, 2016 Audi A4 spied with no camouflage

The next-generation, 2016 Audi A4 has been spied without any camouflage, but unfortunately, just from the back. The images were snapped by worldcarfans reader Umit Merakli. Straightaway, the car appears larger in size, which has to be the case, because the A3 Sedan has almost clinched the A4’s position.

The 2016 A4, code-named the B9 internally, will sit on the MLB Evo platform- a modular architecture which mixes ultra high strength steel with aluminum and composites materials, with one of the benefits being a weight cut of around 90 kgs. Moreover, the engine will be placed closer to the center of the car, aft of the front axle- which should result in better dynamics.

Engine options are expected to include a host of 1.4-liter, 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter TFSI petrols, along with 1.6 and 2.0-liter diesel engines that will mainly target markets like India and Europe. Diesel intensive markets may see a 3.0-liter diesel V6, while the USA is expected to get a 3.0-liter petrol V6. A plug-in hybrid petrol will also make its way to the variant list.

The new A4 will sport a new front fascia which gets Audi’s new, slightly sharper iteration of its trademark grille- which debuted with the all-new TT, and new LED headlamps inspired from the face-lifted A6/A7/A8 range. The sides will look fall into the Audi scheme of things – keeping it understated, while the rear will sport dual tail pipes and redesigned LED tail lights.
