Next gen Renault Duster coming in 2016; to have 7 seats

Renault Duster 7-seat

The next gen Renault Duster will debut internationally sometime in 2016, a report on Caradisiac says. However, it will NOT be based on the Renault Oroch Concept, as the render above would like you to believe. What it will get is the addition of a third row of seats (as an option), and an all-new design. In India, making it accommodate 7 people will only broaden its appeal, and the fresh style will build upon the already popular Duster brand. Other details are scarce, but the new Duster could take a few cues from the Sandero hatchback and the soon-to-be-launched Lodgy MPV.

For India, the next-generation Duster will be available in both petrol and diesel guise. However it’s still not clear if the current range of engines will be just carried over, or carried over with mild re-tuning for better performance & economy.  The Indian Duster’s current petrol unit is the 1.6-litre four-cylinder unit producing 103bhp and 145Nm of torque, while the diesel mill is the renowned K9K and is available in two states of tune – 85bhp with five-speed manual transmission, and the 110bhp with six-speed manual gearbox.

While the petrol and 85bhp diesel variants are available only with two-wheel-drive option, the 110bhp diesel RxL and RxZ variants can also be ordered with all-wheel-drive. The AWD system comes with three options – 2W lock, auto and AWD lock, which can be switched on the fly.
