After opening bookings online for Rs 11,000, Tata Motors has now confirmed that the Bolt hatchback will be launched on the 20th of January. Their second new vehicle after the Zest, the manufacturer will be hoping to replicate the success of their sub 4-meter sedan with the launch of this new hatchback. Manufactured under ‘Horizonext’, Tata Motors’ new four-pronged customer-focused strategy, the Bolt will be a giant leap compared to their earlier hatchback efforts. With this new strategy, the homegrown giant intends to focus on world-class manufacturing practices, enrich customer purchase experience and provide consistent quality of service.

A Zest clone minus the boot, the Tata Bolt will be available with a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron MPFi petrol engine that makes 89bhp of power and 14.27kgm of torque. Apart from being the first turbocharged petrol car in the segment, the Bolt also boasts of selectable driving modes which can be toggled via a switch. The Diesel variant on the other hand will be the 1.3-litre diesel motor sourced from Fiat. Tuned to produce 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque, both the diesel and the petrol motors will be mated to a 5-speed manual. Tata hasn’t announced any plans to equip the Bolt with an AMT yet. Being a Tata, expect the Bolt to be priced aggressively, prices for the base variant could start well under the 4 lakh mark.
