I know some of you will jump with joy as you read this. But wait as the title suggests, the bike is new but not entirely new. Just a small upgrade makes once the best seller, Splendor+ BS-III compliant and NEW too. A new set of graphics, if offered may enhance the bike’s looks.
The decision to make the bike BS-III compliant came a little late. Only when the RTOs around the country stopped registering the bike, did Hero Honda realise that its time they upgrade. A dealer said that due to non availability of a BS-III compliant Splendor, the company lost around 150 customers who either fled to buy a different bike from HH or went ahead and settled with some product HH’s competitors had on offer. A loss of 150-200 bikes a month meant Rs.120 crores for the brand.
“We welcome the final notification on implementation of BS-III emission norms for two-wheelers by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, as the industry had been waiting for clarity on the subject from the government. We had started production of BS-III-compliant Splendor+ even before the final notification came, and BS-III-compliant-Splendor+ is being made available in all the 13 cities with immediate effect,” a spokesperson said.
There are chances that HH may increase the price of the upgraded model. But they can’t increase it too much otherwise the customers will look for other options like the Passion and NXG.
