Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the most powerful variant of the E-Class in India. Known as the Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic+, the performance oriented luxury sedan will make its debut in the country on May 4, 2018 at the Buddh International Circuit in Delhi.
Currently the top-end variant of the ‘standard’ E63 AMG, the upcoming model from Mercedes-AMG sources firepower from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. This engine is tuned to produce a maximum power output of 612 hp while the peak torque is rated at a massive 850 Nm. Paired to a nine speed dual clutch automatic transmission, power is sent to all four wheels. A sprint from 0-100 kmph takes a mere 3.3 seconds, which is faster than that of the AMG GT-R. The top speed of the car is electronically limited to 300 kmph, although that figure can rise to the 300 kmph mark with the help of the AMG driver’s package option.

Visual updates to the Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic+ include a new single slat grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, chunkier wheel arches and AMG specific 20 inch matte grey alloy wheels. Mercedes-AMG will also offer ceramic disc brakes, AMG specific sports suspension, dynamic engine mounts and an electronically-controlled differential lock as optional features.
A few other highlights of the new Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic+ include the cylinder deactivation technology and the drift mode. While the former shuts down half of the cylinders at low speeds in order to return higher fuel efficiency, the latter helps change to the rear-wheel drive option.
