Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Facelift Launch Soon, Bookings to Commence in September

We have reported time and again about the impending launch of the face lifted Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. It seems as though the new car is primed for a launch soon as according to some reports, the NEXA dealerships will start taking bookings for the car from September 1, 2017.

Not very successful in its first version, the prices of the car were slashed heavily to clear stocks, although with a heavily reworked styling, the car is expected to do better in its face-lifted avatar. At Motoroids, we have done an exhaustive design review of the S-Cross some time back, you can find all the details about the changes made to the car by following the link.

The mid-life update to the S-Cross makes the front end look slightly different, and somewhat beefier with a bigger projector headlamps setup that also houses DRLs, a wider front grille finished in chrome and a few changes to the bumper. While the side profile will carry on unchanged, the rear tail lights get LED inserts and a slightly modified design, sitting above a new bumper.

Being a facelift, the S-Cross will continue to be offered with the current set of engines, both diesel. The lower-spec engine is a 1.3 litre turbocharged unit with 89HP of power produced at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque dished out at 1,750 rpm. Transmission duty will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual box.

The bigger engine offering presents itself in the form of a 1.6-litre turbo diesel unit with 118 HP of power produced at 3,750 rpm and 320 Nm of torque churned out at 1,750 rpm. The transmission here is a six-speed manual unit.

Maruti Suzuki is also planning to offer the S-Cross with a M15 1.5 litre petrol engine, a 1490-cc four cylinder unit that produces a power output of 100 hp at 5900 rpm while the peak torque of 133 Nm comes up at 4100 rpm. The said engine could come mated to a four speed automatic gearbox as an option. The 1.5 litre petrol engine is also likely to replace the 1.4 litre petrol engine in the Ciaz.
