Mahindra XUV 7XO Secures 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

Mahindra XUV 7XO has added another feat to its name, making the seven-seater SUV an even more promising option for buyers. The latest model has now gone through Bharat NCAP crash testing and has received a 5-star safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection.

The SUV scored 30.76 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection. It also managed 44.97 points out of 49 in the child occupant protection test. Bharat NCAP tested the AX7 diesel automatic version with front wheel drive and all wheel drive, while the 5-star rating applies across the XUV 7XO range.

Strong Adult Protection Score

The XUV 7XO performed well in both major adult protection tests. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it scored 14.76 points out of 16. The side movable deformable barrier test gave it a full 16 points.

During the frontal crash, most of the important areas for the driver and passenger received a good protection rating. The driver’s chest and some areas around the lower legs were rated as adequate.

The side impact result was stronger, with good protection recorded for the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis.

Child Protection Results

The SUV also recorded a high score in the child occupant protection test. Bharat NCAP used child dummies representing an 18-month-old and a three-year-old. The results were:

  • Dynamic child protection: 23.97/24 points
  • Child restraint system installation: 12/12 points
  • Vehicle assessment: 9/13 points
  • Total child protection: 44.97/49 points

Both child dummies received full marks in the side impact test. The 18-month-old dummy lost only a small fraction of a point in the frontal crash assessment.

The XUV 7XO gets a long list of safety equipment, with the exact features depending on the variant. These include –

XUV700 Safety Record

The XUV 7XO is the facelifted version of the XUV700. The earlier model was tested by Global NCAP in 2021 and received five stars for adult protection and four stars for child protection.

The latest Bharat NCAP result gives the newer SUV a stronger child protection score as well. It also adds another safety result to Mahindra’s growing list of crash-tested SUVs.
