Mahindra has recently trademarked the name ‘Scorpio X’ signalling the potential arrival of the third model in the Scorpio line-up
Global Concept, Local Appeal
The Scorpio X pickup, anticipated to hit the market next year, is more than just a vehicle; it’s an experience waiting to unfold. With options for both petrol and diesel engines, this pickup is set to cater to a wide audience.
Boasting cutting-edge technology and off-road capabilities, the Scorpio X aims to redefine the standards for adventure-ready vehicles.

Global Recognition
The Scorpio X pickup, internally known as Z121, made its debut in South Africa last year, showcasing its potential as a global contender.
Mahindra’s vision extends beyond borders, with plans to sell this model in markets like South Africa, Australia, and the Middle East.
Built on a “next-generation ladder frame platform,” the Scorpio X is engineered for excellence, designed to excel in Global NCAP and Euro NCAP crash tests.

Balancing Form and Function
While the initial concept teased us with avant-garde design elements, the production version is expected to strike a balance between rugged aesthetics and practicality.
Featuring robust cladding and ample ground clearance, the Scorpio X is tailored for rough terrains. Leveraging shared components with the Scorpio N ensures efficiency in production without compromising on quality.

Technological Marvels
The Scorpio X isn’t just about the exterior; it’s a powerhouse of features and tech. Enthusiasts can expect Level 2 Autonomous Driving, semi-automatic parking, and cutting-edge 5G-based connectivity.
The inclusion of a sunroof, a beloved feature in the Indian market, adds a touch of luxury. Notably, the Scorpio X goes a step further with Trailer Sway Mitigation, an ESP feature ensuring stability when towing.

Under the Hood
The Scorpio X pickup’s performance is anchored by a Gen-II all-aluminium mHawk diesel engine. Mated to either a 6-speed manual or an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission, it ensures a dynamic driving experience.
With 4WD capability and shift-on-the-fly technology, coupled with four drive modes – Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand – the Scorpio X promises versatility. For select markets, a petrol engine option will also be available.
Future Landscape of Mahindra SUVs
While the Scorpio X sets its sights on international markets, Mahindra has exciting plans for the domestic audience. In the coming year, India will witness the introduction of the XUV300 facelift, the XUV300 EV, and the much-anticipated Thar 5-door variant.
