Rolls-Royce has recently announced that the brand will be launching an all-new convertible model, soon. The company is being very hush about the actual car, as they have not released any details about the upcoming model. The only thing we know so far, is that the new model will be a convertible. If this convertible is based on any of the existing platforms within the RR stable, is still unknown to us. However, the British carmaker made it clear that, once launched, the model will be available throughout the world. We presume that doesn’t include places like Cambodia or Somalia, does it? Well, jokes aside, the amazing fact is that India has one of the largest dealer networks of the uber-luxury brand in the Asia-pacific region. Whereas Australia has 4 dealerships, India has a total of 6. We are not surprised. India houses some youngsters with very fat wallets, who purchase a 4.5 crore rupee car, at an age where most of us are lucky if we get our first crummy, used hatchback.

He’s just 22 and drives around in a 4.5 crore rupee Ghost 2.

No wonder then, the company is keeping a sharp watch on this ever-growing market. Rolls-Royce introduced the Ghost in India, back in 2009. It was later followed by the Ghost Series 2, whose production commenced in 2014. The Series 2 is manufactured in Goodwood, England and arrives in India as a CBU (complete built unit). The Ghost Series 2 starts off at a mere Rs. 4.5 crore, that’s before you start kitting it up with various options that RR offers. The upcoming convertible, when launched, will join the Phantom Drophead Coupé in the RR stable. The Phantom Drophead will likely retain its crown of being the most expensive Rolls-Royce in production. It won’t be a bad guess if you think the new convertible will be based on the Ghost/Wraith platform, but that’s to be seen. Let us know what you think of Rolls-Royce’s upcoming model which is slated for launch somewhere in 2016.
