Variant wise pricing in INR (ex-showroom Mumbai):
Petrol | Diesel |
1.2 : 669,375 | 1.4 : 800,202 |

The Hyundai i20 Active is based on the Elite i20 hatchback. It sports newly designed bumpers, a slightly raised ground clearance (190 mm), faux scruff plates, body cladding all around, new footwear ( 195/55 R16 tires wrapped around a newly designed set of 16 inch alloy wheels.), roof rails, and a stain finished fuel filler cap.
The engines are sourced from the Elite i20, which means the 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol motor and 1.4-litre CRDi diesel motor find their way under the Active’s hood as well.
The diesel unit (1.4), mated to a six-speed manual transmission, is good for 89 bhp of power and 220 Nm of torque, while the petrol unit (1.2), mated to a five-speed manual transmission, makes 82 bhp of power and 114 Nm of torque.
The Active gets altered gear ratios, with the petrol engine delivering 6% better low-end & mid-range shove, while the diesel now delivers 11% better low-end shove.
Claimed fuel efficiency for the petrol engine is 17.19 kmpl and 21.19 kmpl for the diesel engine – both have taken a minor dip from the Elite i20 due to the mildly altered gear ratios.
Outdoorsy appeal : A roof box (above & below) won’t look out of place on the Active; an aftermarket fitment for now, but Hyundai might offer it in the future as a part of the options list.
