Land Rover Updates Defender with Captain Seats

Land Rover has introduced updates to its Defender lineup, including the addition of a three-row version, enhanced powertrain options, and cabin upgrades.

Enhanced Powertrain Options

One of the key updates to the Land Rover Defender is the introduction of more powerful and efficient powertrain options. The D300 diesel engine has been replaced with the D350 engine from the Range Rover, delivering an impressive 350hp and 700Nm of torque. Additionally, the plug-in hybrid variant now features a smaller 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, providing a combined output of 310hp.

Cabin Upgrades

The interior of the Defender has received significant upgrades, including the introduction of a new Captain Chairs pack for the three-row Defender 130 model. This pack replaces the middle bench with individual armchairs, offering front-row comfort to passengers in the second row. The cabin enhancements also include heating, ventilation, and easy access to cupholders.

Exterior Enhancements

In addition to the interior upgrades, the Defender lineup has been refreshed with new exterior options, including the introduction of the Sedona edition of the 110 model. This edition features bespoke red paintwork, a black trim pack, and a bonnet decal depicting the rocky terrain of Sedona, Arizona, adding a touch of exclusivity and style to the Defender range.

Trim Structure and Availability

Land Rover has simplified the trim structure of the Defender lineup in international markets, offering a range of trims comprising S, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, X, and V8 variants. These trims are available in 90, 110, and 130 body styles.

Land Rover Defender in India

While these updates have been introduced in international markets, it remains to be confirmed whether they will be available in India. Currently, Land Rover offers the Defender in 90, 110, and 130 body styles in India, with a choice of five powertrain options, including turbo-petrols, diesel, V8 petrol, and petrol-plug-in hybrid variants. The Defender lineup in India is priced competitively, starting from Rs 98.5 lakh for the 90 model and going up to Rs 1.39 crore for the 130 model.
