Hyundai Alcazar Facelift to come during Diwali

Hyundai Alcazar facelift was initially slated for a mid-2024 release has been postponed to the festive season this year with expectations set for Sept-Oct 2024

The delay is from Hyundai’s strategic decision to clear the inventory of the outgoing model before introducing the facelifted version into the market.

Reasons Behind the Delay

The Alcazar, although a capable SUV from Hyundai, has experienced slower sales compared to its sibling, the Creta. With the Creta consistently achieving over 10,000 units in monthly sales, dealers often incentivized customers towards the Creta due to its popularity and shorter waiting periods. Consequently, inventory levels of the outgoing Alcazar remain high, prompting Hyundai to delay the launch of the facelifted model to ensure a smoother transition and optimal market reception.

What to Expect from the Facelifted Alcazar

The upcoming Alcazar facelift will receive a host of updates, aligning it with the design language and features of the new Creta. Exterior revisions are anticipated to include a split headlamp setup, a refreshed front grille and bumper, and a redesigned tailgate with horizontal, wraparound-style tail-lamps. While maintaining its distinct identity, the new Alcazar is expected to bridge the visual gap with its sibling, the Creta.

Interior Enhancements

Inside the cabin, the facelifted Alcazar is likely to inherit the updated dashboard layout from the new Creta, featuring a modern, connected-screen interface. Additionally, the Alcazar will continue to offer both six- and seven-seat configurations, catering to diverse customer preferences.

No Changes in Powertrain

Despite the cosmetic updates, the facelifted Alcazar will retain its existing powertrain options. The 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and the 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine will carry over unchanged, along with their respective manual and automatic transmissions.

Continued Competition

Upon its eventual launch, the Hyundai Alcazar facelift will continue to compete in the fiercely contested midsize SUV segment, going head-to-head against rivals such as the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and the MG Hector Plus. While pricing details are yet to be confirmed, a marginal increase can be expected to reflect the enhancements and upgrades introduced in the facelifted model.
