Honda is getting ready for an important day in India. On May 22, the company will bring two cars together. One is the updated Honda City and the other is the new Honda ZR-V. Both cars have different roles but together they show the next step for the brand.
Launch plan
Honda has planned a dual launch for the Indian market. Both cars will arrive on May 22. One is a familiar sedan getting an update, while the other is a completely new SUV. This move is part of a bigger plan to strengthen the brand in India over the coming years.
ZR V overview
The ZR V will come as a fully imported model and will sit at the top of the lineup. It is expected to be priced between 40 lakh and 50 lakh. This SUV is more about building image and bringing a premium feel to the showroom. It will take on models like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq in the market.
Size and design
The ZR V has a clean and rounded design compared to the more upright look seen on some other Honda SUVs. It measures around 4568 mm in length, 1840 mm in width and 1620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of about 2657 mm. These proportions give it a proper road presence without looking bulky.
Engine and features
The SUV is expected to use a 2.0 litre petrol hybrid setup that produces around 180 hp. It will come with an e CVT automatic gearbox. The focus here is smooth driving and better efficiency.
Inside, the ZR V will offer a good mix of comfort and tech. It is expected to get a touchscreen infotainment system, powered driver seat, dual zone climate control, ADAS safety features, powered tailgate and wireless charging.

City facelift details
The updated City will continue as a key product for Honda in India. This will be the second update for the current generation model. Changes on the outside will be small, with updates to the headlights, tail lamps, bumpers and alloy wheels. New colour options may also be added.
Interior and features
Interior upgrades are expected, with more features and small improvements. The car may get a larger touchscreen with updated software and a digital instrument display. A 360 degree camera could also be offered. Small changes like new seat materials and trims are also expected.
Engine options
The engine setup is likely to remain the same. The petrol version will use a 1.5 litre engine with 121 hp and will be available with manual and CVT options. The hybrid version will continue with 126 hp and an e CVT gearbox. This version is known for its strong fuel efficiency.
Market position
The City will continue to compete with cars like the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia. Even with SUVs gaining popularity, this sedan still has a strong place due to its comfort and smooth driving nature.
