Along with the CBR 650F, the Livo and refreshed CBR150 & 250 twins, HMSI (Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India) unveiled the Honda CB Hornet 160R at the Revfest in New Delhi today. Honda says that the CB Hornet 160R is inspired by the “dreams of the Golden Generation”, and is “faster, smarter, sportier marvel on two wheels.”
Details are still scarce, and even the price hasn’t been announced. From what we gather, the Hornet will feature Honda’s “Dynamic Mass forward design”, sharply styled headlamp cluster with position lamps, LCD digital instrumentation, petal disc brakes with Honda’s CBS (Combi Braking System), X-shaped LED tail lamp, short exhaust and a wide 140/70-R17 rear tire.
Essentially, the CB Hornet 160R will be the CB Unicorn’s more premium cousin, with all-new, slightly upmarket, sportier styling. The 163cc engine on the CB Unicorn 160 is rated to deliver 14.5 bhp of power and 14.61Nm of torque. Expect to see similar power output number, if not more, on the CB Hornet 160.
The sharply styled headlamp cluster bears the family resemblance, and has twin position lamps.
The well-contoured, full-sized tank pad gets a faux carbon fiber finish.
Archaic switchgear retained from the CB Trigger; lacks premium touch.
The stubby exhaust with a dull silver shroud looks the part.
The CB Hornet 160R gets petal disc brakes with Honda’s CBS (Combi Braking System).
Wide 140 section MRF Nylogrip rubber at the back give it a meaty presence from the rear.
Full digital instrumentation is carried over from the CB Trigger.
Official power and torque figures from the 163cc engine haven’t been announced yet.
The split grab rails, along with the pointy shroud and X-shaped, LED tail lamp (below) account for a futuristic tail section.
