It is a widely accepted fact that when it comes to commuter motorcycles, Hero MotoCorp is the ultimate kingpin. There is a reason why it is touted as World’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer but when it comes to 125cc commuter motorcycles, Hero has to face stiff competition from Honda. Hero MotorCorp already has bikes in the 125cc segment such as Glamour and Super Splendor but both of these bikes can’t compete with Honda SP 125 which is the leading 125cc bike.
To counter the Shine supremacy, Hero is planning to launch a premium version of the Glamour which will be called Glamour XTec. With its premium features, it aims to increase sales.
The Glamour and Super Splendor have a semi-digital instrument cluster, with no extra features. Glamour XTec will live up to its name as the premium version by offering more features. The leaked presentation has pointed that the new features will be fully digital instrument cluster, a gear position indicator, a digital tachometer and real-time fuel-consumption data. The presentation also revealed that the XTec will get better fuel efficiency as well. To compete with the Honda SP 125, Glamour XTec might get LED headlamps. New features like these will take on the Honda SP 125, and will increase of sales for the company.
New Colours and Expected Price
The Hero Glamour XTec will be launched in three colour options which are Techno Black, Grey Blue and Grey Red. Grey Blue and Grey Red will be different only by a few highlights and stickers. The standard model is currently available at the showrooms for a starting price of Rs 73,000 (ex-showroom). With new premium features we can expect an increase of Rs. 3,000.
The XTEC will share its fuel-injected 124.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor with Hero’s other 125cc models, and we expect it to produce the same 10.7hp and 10.6Nm as well. It will send its drive to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox.
