We have been talking about the Chevrolet Cruze getting a new engine since quite some time now. Now, the news is that the sedan will get a motor from the American car manufacturer’s Z Series engines. The car will get a DOHC 2.0 litres, 163 bhp common-rail oil burner. The new motor should debut with the cosmetic changes in the front fascia. The interiors too are expected to get a minor tweaking. The interiors are expected to get a two-tone color treatment with LED illumination. It is being said that GM India will take customer feedback in account and re-design the rear seats to free up more space for head room. The upgraded Cruze should come by 2012 end or early 2013. Currently the car is powered by a 150-bhp engine and a new and more powerful engine means even quicker acceleration. It is expected that the upgraded car will do an 8.5 second run to 100 kmph.
We really appreciate your feedback and to be honest, we are already working on that area. This story here will be corrected in a matter of few minutes. Thanks again.

Dear Yatharth,
I’m afraid in haste, Motoroids articles are slowly coming up with wrong info! Current CRUZE develops 166bhp, not 150bhp!Please correct it.
I think the current engine has performed very well…..been driving it for more them 2 years now and it goes like a rocket
The current Cruze is still the best v.f.m car in the segment. The engine which is likely to be seen in the 2013 version could be the one designed in Korea rather than the current one which has its roots in Italy. And rumour has it that the Korean division of G.M. have done a great job at evolving the next version of the 2.O Tcdi. Awful Turbo-lag, lack of low-end boost would be the only real flaws in the current engine. However the dashboard design although great G.M. better make necessary changes to the dash board layout to free more leg room in the front.
