While the next generation Toyota Fortuner is still a while away (2017) from being launched in India, the current generation model continues to be the popular choice in its segment. Still, its been around for a while now and is getting a bit long in the tooth. To perk up the old beast, Toyota India displayed a Fortuner TRD Sportivo Platinum at the Auto Expo 2016.
The TRD (Toyota Racing Deelopment) Sportivo body-kit on the Fortuner includes a redesigned front bumper with faux intakes, bumper extensions, side sill extensions, a front lip spoiler with LED DRLs, a faux rear diffuser and a roof spoiler. Along with the body-kit, special TRD wheels in a multi-spoke design and gunmetal grey finish are also a part of the package.
Inside, the Fortuner TRD Sportivo Platinum comes with a dual tone black and red leather upholstery with red contrast stitching (even on the door pads), along with new floor carpets. The centre console is now finished in dark wood trim. As of now, updated prices for the Fortuner TRD Sportivo Platinum are yet to be announced by Toyota India.
The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo Platinum continues to be powered by the 3.0-litre, D-4D, turbocharged diesel engine, which makes 169 bhp @ 3600 rpm and a maximum torque of 360 Nm @ 1400-3200 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission, while a full-time 4WD system channels power to all the wheels.
