Audi India has today announced the launch of the new Audi A6 2.0 TDI in India. The new engine variant takes the engine options for the new car to four.  The new 2.0 TDi variant has been priced at Rs 37.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and will be available at Audi dealerships from October 2011.

The new Audi A6 boasts great technology. Much of the body of the new Audi A6 consists of aluminum and high-tech steels, rendering it exceedingly light, stiff and safe. Modern design methods and materials ensure extremely low interior noise levels. Precision tuning of all components and systematic hydraulic damping in the axle and drivetrain bearings provide excellent vibrational comfort. The sedan is 4.92 meters long and 1.87 meters wide, but just 1.46 meters high. The 2.0 TDI In-line 4 cylinder generates 130 kW (177 hp) with a displacement of 1,968 cc.  The engine delivers great fuel efficiency too, and managed a staggering 18.9kmpl in a real world coast-to-coast drive organized by one of the leading auto magazines in India.

Audi is currently the No.1 luxury brand in Europe and China.  In 2011, Audi continues to be the fastest growing luxury car brand in the U.S and in India. In August, Audi India recorded yet another impressive performance with a sale of 510 cars (August 2010: 250 cars). For the period January – August 2011, the company sold 3655 cars, a growth of 95 percent over the same period last year (Jan – Aug 2010: 1876 cars).

Michael Perschke, Head – Audi India said: “IThe new A6 2.0 TDI is a new benchmark globally and in India for sporty, yet efficient driving, paired with Audi’s progressive design. We achieved consumption levels with a 1585 kg weight car, which many smaller cars in India cannot achieve. This clearly signifies our philosophy – “Vorsprung durch Technik”. With the arrival of this important model and the 2.0 TDi engine in India, we are confident that we might even increase our forecast for this year based on a strong response to the new A6.”
