Amaron Karting Challenge Season3 Mumbai round results

The fifth regional round of Amaron Karting Challenge Season 3, India’s largest Karting Challenge ended today on the Hakone Karting Track, Powai in Mumbai. Zipping at the track in Powai, following participants made it to the finals of Amaron Karting Challenge Season 3 to be held in Hyderabad on February 6, 2011.

A total of 54 racers across the country will eye the trophy in finals and make their first move towards entering the world of Motorsports.

With consistence performance across all the rounds, the 6 racers were the top qualifiers in the last round of the races held here on the fantastic Sunday evening amongst roaring sound of engines, cheer and ecstatic crowd. The top three crowned winners from Mumbai – Akash Gowda, Pranav Thakkar and Yash Thawani were awarded at the prize distribution ceremony which concluded the three day racing event of the Amaron Karting Challenge 3 in Mumbai.

Having started on 7 Jan, 2011 – Friday, AKC season 3 saw an overwhelming response with more than 9000 students from across the top schools of Mumbai registering for the races. The selected participants were divided in batches and the fastest 64 were chosen to race in the main race today.

The track event today was conducted basis the selected 64 being divided into eight batches of eight. The batches were made to race one by one and the top 4 from these races moved on to the next level. F2 driver and GP2 racer Armaan Ebrahim was present to provide tips to the aspiring racers from Mumbai and to give a unique demo race!!!

The most gripping moment of the day was the last race when the eight fastest contestants raced together displaying impeccable performances. The race ended with the announcement of the top 6 finishers selected for the Grand Finals of AKC season 3, winners of which to be awarded scholarship of upto Rs 10 lacs and professional training by Amaron Pro Racing with MECO Motor sports.

Amaron Karting Challenge Season 3 will span across 9 cities namely Kolhapur,  Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Chandigarh and Hyderabad.

Taking this sport to masses, Amaron also gave opportunity to college and corporates enthusiasts to race at the support races. The intent of the support races is to take speed off the streets and onto the race tracks.  While the participants (16-24 years) under this category will not compete for the Amaron Karting Challenge Season 3 trophy, their lap times will monitored and top finishers will get invitation to participate in Volkswagen Polo cup 2011.
