Say what you may about the brand or its strategies, it is a widely accepted fact that Harley-Davidson was the company that kickstarted big-bike operations in India. It used to be the most popular premium bikemaker present in India until things started going south. Let us not dwell on the past anymore because it is 2021 and the iconic American brand has announced prices of its 2021 motorcycle range for India, under the new partnership with Hero MotoCorp. The company has officially revealed the prices of 12 motorcycles but the star of the show has to be the newest kid on the block – Pan America.
Iron 883 is now the entry point in Harley’s lineup for India and is priced at INR 10.11 Lakh while the Road Glide Special is the most expensive motorcycle of the lot and is priced at INR 34.99 Lakh.
Harley-Davidson Pan America
Talking about the Pan America, it is the brand’s first ADV-tourer and is priced at INR 16.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Powering the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 is an all-new Revolution Max 1250 engine, a liquid-cooled V-Twin that makes 150PS of power at 9,000rpm and generates 128Nm of torque at 6,750rpm, mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch.
The Pan America features ride modes such as Road, Sport, Rain, Off-Road and Off-Road Plus wherein each mode consists of a specific combination of power delivery, engine braking, Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) and Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS) settings.
Commenting on the commencement of bookings, Ravi Avalur – Head – Premium Segment Business Unit, Hero MotoCorp, said, “We are excited to open the bookings for the 2021 range of Harley-Davidson motorcycles in India. The line-up is now strengthened with the introduction of the Pan America Adventure Tourer. The 2021 model range appeals to a broader consumer segment and will ensure Harley-Davidson’s leadership in the leisure motorcycling segment.”
“Harley-Davidson enters 2021 focused on motorcycling as an emotional experience. The timeless pursuit of adventure and freedom on the open road is the foundation of our heritage and the vision of our future. As we enter the new riding season, fueling that desire is more important than ever.” said Theo Keetell, Vice President-Marketing, Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
