2017 Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition revealed; gets hardware updates, Euro IV compliant

For 2017, Kawasaki has revealed the new R Edition of its Z1000 naked roadster. Apart from the visual and hardware upgrades, the new 2017 Z1000 R Edition’s 1,043cc 4-stroke, inline 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine is claimed to be Euro IV compliant without compromising on performance. The ECU too has been revised for smoother power deliver.

In terms of hardware, the new Z1000 R dons new set of anchors. The duties are now performed by 310mm Brembo floating front discs with M50 monobloc calipers which replace the dual 310mm petal-type rotors with radial-mounted four-piston monobloc calipers. The brake fluid is transferred via stainless steel braided lines which are aimed to deliver improved braking performance.

Kawasaki officials claim that they have fine tuned the front setup to matches the Öhlins’s performance. Other upgrades include a revised instrument cluster which now gets a digital gear position indicator and adjustable shift-light indicator.
