2014 Volkswagen Passat to be based on MQB platform and get design hints from Cross Coupe

It has emerged that the next gen VW Passat that should arrive in 2014 will be based on the much publicized MQB platform.  This platform will be widely shared with many other VW group cars and this means that VW will earn more profits.

It is being said that the 2014 Passat will be longer and wider and should be internationally available in a range of body styles. The CC version will be seen locking horns with the upcoming BMW 4 series. The car will get styling hints from VW Cross Coupe and the new car is expected to be lighter by 75kgs.

The news that has really excited us is that apart from petrol and hybrid motors, the Passat will also offer a twin turbo diesel motor and the it should churn out some 180 BHP of power and 350 Nm torque. The new car should continue having a Tuetonic desing language along with playing the perfect younger sibling to the Audi luxury sedan.

We should update as more news on this car surfaces. Stay tuned.

  1. sad to say, but its unimpressive logo & meaningless font style… more suitable to a tier 3 i.t. company.

i just reminding the same high profile, chick chack and showee logo and name "disclosing ceremony" when this shahruck made a new company "dreamz un limited…" what an ass***e! then u know the history… company flushed away, as it paid more concern to display than matter.

same history repetation going on here…. God save my hero honda
