The race in the diesel hatchback segment of vehicles will soon get more competitive as Maruti Suzuki readies its offering, the Celerio. Latest set of spy images from automotive website GaadiWaadi reveal that the diesel avatar of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio has hit the production line at the company’s manufacturing facility in Manesar. The DDiS badge is visible on the flanks of the vehicle spotted at the facility.
Reports claims that the Celerio diesel will receive a 793cc two cylinder motor that is expected to deliver 52-58 HP of power and peak torque of 150-160 Nm. The Celerio diesel is expected to return a fuel efficiency of 30.1 kmpl which will make it the most fuel efficient vehicle in the country after the BMW i8. Expect to see an automated manual transmission (AMT) option along with the Maruti Celerio diesel. Once launched, the Maruti Celerio deisel will lock horns against the Hyundai i10 Grand Diesel and Chevrolet Beat Diesel.
The car is ready to be rolled out and you can see the vehicle in the showrooms near you by the end of April. Expect the prices to hover between Rs 4-6 lakh range.
