Spyshots of a new KTM 1290 Super Adventure have emerged on the web. These photos were probably clicked while the bike was undergoing a video shoot for a commercial advertisement.
The spied bike appears production-ready, and we thus expect KTM to unveil the new 1290 Super Adventure very soon. Spyshots of this bike had been unravelled earlier too. In the older photos, the bike sported a larger fuel tank, engine crash bars and wider air vents on the fairing. There were some changes on the fairing and the wind screen. The decal on the fairing of the bike clearly says that the bike carries a 1290 cc engine. We expect that its the same 1301 cc V-Twin powerplant used on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.
It is unlikely that the engine will be running on the same state of tune as the 1290 Super Duke R. KTM might have retuned the engine for lesser horsepower, and gained extra torque in that trade-off. However, the tune on the 1290 Super Duke R produces about 144 Nm of torque. That is a mammoth amount of torque, and certainly enough for the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure. The new bike will also get a 32 hp power boost, thanks to the new engine.
Like the 1190 Super Adventure, the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure will also feature a rich list of electronic goodies. The probable list will include :
- ABS
- Traction Control
- Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC)
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System
- Ride-by-Wire Throttle System
The MSC from Bosch is definitely the icing on the cake. It features a traction control system that is sensitive to the lean angle of the bike. When combined with the ABS, it forms a lean-sensitive ABS that will allow higher safety levels while braking when banked over on any terrain.
There’s the INTERMOT show that will be held this October in Cologne, Germany. There is also the EICMA show this November in Milan. Expect the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure to break cover at these events.
