Video: DIY fix for a lost reverse gear

DIY for broken reverse

Although modern transmission boxes are fairy reliable, it isn’t impossible to lose a gear or two on an unlucky day. On such a day, even a Pathfinder might not be able to lead you to the right path. However, as they say, adversity brings out the best within. So this bloke in the video devised an ingenious way of saving himself some money he might’ve spent otherwise on a new gearbox.

In a DIY fix, he attached one end of the chain at the bottom of the chassis, while the other end has been affixed with a rolling apparatus. Once the car drives forward, the rear wheel locks in the rollers, making the car travel backwards. Not something that would work in tight spaces, but surely a laudable effort that goes on to show how it isn’t always money that can fix things.
