Design

The overall design of the siblings is exactly the same. Both get a split LED headlamps setup and an aggressive fairing. The rear gets LED tail lamps and the seats are split into two parts. However, both are offered with different liveries. The base model in both the bikes is offered in black color. Buy the higher variant and you get race liveries that are specific to both the brands. The BMW comes with its familiar red, blue and white livery whereas the Apache gets the TVS Racing livery. With the TVS BTO platform for the Apache, customers have graphic options, rim color options, and personalized race numbers.

Instrumentation

Both the bikes share the 5-inch TFT display that displays the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level, engine temperature, etc. However, the BMW has different graphics which are more in line with other BMWs. The TVS gets Bluetooth connectivity and a Digi locker that can hold your digital copies of your documents like bike papers, RC card, driver’s license, and the likes. The documents can be transferred via SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity. Apart from the new Digi Locker, it also gets a new rev limiter indicator, along with a day trip meter and overspeeding indicator.

Mechanicals

The BMW G 310 RR rides on Michelin Pilot Street tires which are less hardcore when compared to Michelin Road 5 tires on its sibling. It also gets conventional disc brakes instead of the petal units on the Apache. Though both the bikes offer adjustable pre-load, the Apache goes one step further and offers an adjustable front suspension as well.

Customization

The TVS Apache 310 RR comes with the ‘Built To Order’ platform which BMW doesn’t offer. Customers can select pre-set kits, graphic options, rim color options, and personalized race numbers. The kits, namely, Dynamic and Race, offer an array of features that further accentuate performance and styling as per customers’ usage and needs.  The Dynamic kit includes fully adjustable front and rear suspension that offers multi-level adjustment of preload, rebound, and compression damping.

This allows the customers to adjust the suspension as per their riding style or given road conditions. On the other hand, the Race kit includes race ergonomics that cater to race enthusiasts who like to burn rubber on the tracks. This kit consists of a more aggressive and tucked-in handlebar; rear set raised footrest, and knurled footpegs, that allow for a higher lean angle on the corners and better straight-line stability. This kit also comes with an anti-rust brass coated drive chain to accentuate the style of the motorcycle.

What’s similar?

Both bikes are powered by a DOHC, liquid-cooled engine that cranks out 34 PS and 27 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. They also get 4 riding modes – Urban, Rain, Sport, and Track, which can be toggled between on the fly through the switches on the handlebar. These riding modes alter the ABS and engine power output. They also share the familiar trellis frame and weigh 174 kg. Braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes in the front and rear and dual-channel ABS is standard.
