Bajaj Auto, one of India’s leading two wheeler and three wheeler manufacturers however, has proved to be distinctly ahead in terms of emission norms. The firm has already started manufacturing BS III compliant vehicles. ”We have been working on getting BS III compliant from a long time. Over the years our R&D team has allowed us to stay ahead of the learning curve and even this time the team has ensured that every product that we manufacture meets the new norms,” said S. Sridhar, CEO, Two Wheelers, Bajaj Auto.

Emission standards like the BS III are nothing but norms that set a particular limit to the amount of pollutants that can be released by a vehicle into the environment. The Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Hydrocarbons plus Oxides of Nitrogen (HC + Nox) emission have been brought down from 1.50 (g/km) to 1.0 (g/km) in the Bharat Stage III emission norms. From the 1st of April, 2010, two wheeler manufacturers will have to manufacture vehicles compliant to these emission norms.
