India-Spec Hyundai Bayon Reaches Dealerships, First Real-World Images Out

After the India-spec Hyundai Bayon made its grand debut, the highly anticipated SUV has finally been caught completely undisguised in the real world. A vibrant red example was just spotted arriving at a dealership yard ahead of its official October 26 launch, giving eager buyers their first crystal-clear look at both its bold exterior lines and tech-loaded cabin. For those ready to secure a spot in line, reservations are officially live for a token amount of Rs 11,000, with customer deliveries scheduled to kick off this November.

Exterior Design

The Bayon measures around 4.2 metres long and will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s SUV range. Its styling brings the brand’s Art of Steel design language to India.

Slim H-Edge LED daytime running lights run along the bonnet line and are visually joined by a black strip. The main headlamps sit lower on the bumper, beside a wide grille. Black cladding, silver inserts and bonnet creases add definition.

Other visible details include:

  • Geometric 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Blacked-out pillars and ORVMs
  • Raised roof rails and wheel-arch cladding
  • Rear lamps joined visually by a black strip, with BAYON lettering
  • Roof spoiler, shark-fin antenna and rear wiper

Cabin and Equipment

The cabin features dual-tone dashboard and a curved panel housing two 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment.

Physical shortcut buttons and rotary controls sit below the screen. Vertical AC vents flank the climate-control panel. The centre console includes USB Type-C ports, storage and an automatic gear selector.

Expected features include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control and a Bose sound system. A 360-degree camera, parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and Level 2 ADAS are also expected.

Connected Technology

The Bayon is expected to feature a generative AI voice assistant using Perplexity and SoundHound AI technology. More than 500 offline voice commands are expected across six languages, including Hindi and Hinglish. It will also get the ccNC system, over 70 Bluelink features and updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers.

Engine and Expected Price

Power comes from a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm. A six-speed manual and IVT automatic are expected.

Expected prices vary from Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 17.5 lakh. Rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Hyundai will announce prices and variant details on October 26 in India.
