Maruti Suzuki Eeco has been an underdog when it comes to comparisons with other models in the Maruti range, but now the van has achieved a remarkable milestone. The Eeco has crossed 15 lakh cumulative sales in India. It also has a strong connection with the old Maruti Suzuki Omni, which it succeeded after the Omni was discontinued. Launched in January 2010, the Eeco has now completed 16 years in the Indian market.
The latest sales milestone also shows how demand for the van has picked up over the years. The first 5 lakh units took eight years. The next 5 lakh came in less than five years. The latest 5 lakh sales were recorded in only three and a half years.
Where Eeco Finds Buyers
The Eeco is not limited to one type of customer. It is used by families, small businesses, tourism operators and institutions. Its different versions also make it useful for both people and goods.

Rural areas have played a major role in its sales. During FY2025-26, around 65 per cent of Eeco sales came from rural markets. More than half of its customers were business owners, while 55 per cent were first-time buyers.

Petrol And CNG Choices
The Eeco uses Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre Advanced K-Series Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine. The petrol version has a claimed efficiency of 19.71 km/l.
The S-CNG version offers a claimed 26.78 km/kg. Its popularity has grown sharply. S-CNG accounted for 12 per cent of Eeco sales in FY2019-20. That figure increased to 48 per cent in FY2025-26.
Safety Features
The latest 2026 Eeco also has a longer safety equipment list. Standard features include six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD and reverse parking sensors.

- Side-impact beams
The cabin gets a digital instrument cluster, air conditioning, HVAC controls, a battery-saver dome lamp and reclining front seats.
Eeco Star Edition
Maruti Suzuki has also introduced the Eeco Star Edition to mark the 15 lakh sales milestone. It gets 18 exterior and interior accessories.
Body-coloured bumpers are also part of the special edition. These additions give the van a slightly more premium look and add some changes to the cabin.
The 15 lakh figure is a big achievement for a van that has mainly built its name around space, practicality and multiple uses. The Eeco may not get the same attention as Maruti’s popular hatchbacks and SUVs, but its sales show that it has found its own place in India.
