British luxury car manufacturer Bentley has finally entered the electric era
British luxury car manufacturer Bentley has finally entered the electric era. The brand has officially confirmed that its first-ever electric vehicle will be called the Torcal. The new model marks a major step for Bentley as it expands its lineup beyond petrol-powered grand tourers and SUVs. The Torcal will become the fourth model line in the company’s portfolio, joining the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga. Its global unveiling is scheduled for September 23, 2026, when Bentley will share complete details about the new luxury EV.
While Bentley has not revealed the production model yet, it has confirmed that the Torcal will carry forward the company’s long-standing values of craftsmanship, comfort and effortless performance in an all-electric package.
Story behind the name ‘Torcal’
Bentley has continued its tradition of naming cars after famous natural places. The name Torcal comes from El Torcal de Antequera, a well-known limestone landscape located in Andalusia, Spain. The area is famous for its unique rock formations that have been shaped over millions of years.
The name also has another meaning.
- Torcal comes from the Latin word “torquere”
- The same word is the origin of the modern word torque
- Bentley says the name represents smooth and effortless performance
What do we know about the Bentley Torcal?
Although the company has not revealed complete specifications, several details have already emerged.

The Torcal is expected to become Bentley’s smallest SUV. However, it will continue to sit in the premium luxury segment. Unlike the Bentayga, there are no plans for a petrol or hybrid version. Bentley has confirmed that the Torcal will be offered only as an electric vehicle.
Expected battery and performance
Bentley has not announced technical specifications yet. However, reports suggest the Torcal could share its basic architecture with the upcoming Porsche Cayenne Electric because both brands are part of the Volkswagen Group.
If that happens, the Torcal could feature:
- 113kWh battery pack
- Dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup
- Claimed driving range of more than 640km
Bentley is expected to give the Torcal its own suspension tuning, software calibration and driving character to match the brand’s luxury-focused identity.
