If you are one of the few lucky people who had the opportunity to buy a BS-III vehicle at a throw-away price yesterday, this news is going to be the cherry on the cake for you. Fuel prices witnessed a fall as petrol and diesel prices were reduced by INR 3.77 and INR 2.91 per litre respectively.
Effective from the midnight of 31st March and 1st April 2017, petrol will cost INR 66.29 while diesel will cost INR 55.61 in New Delhi. State-owned fuel retailers — Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) revise fuel prices on 1st and 16th of every month based on average imported cost and rupee-dollar exchange rate in the previous fortnight.
In an official statement, Indian Oil Corporation said, “The current level of international product prices of Petrol & Diesel and INR-USD exchange rate warrant decrease in selling price of Petrol and Diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision. The movement of prices in the international oil market and INR-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes.”
