Driving a ’87 Ferrari F40 in the snow with gay abandon is certainly not for the faint hearted, because when 480 of those turbocharged horses set the rear wheels on fire, no electronic nannies will save you from becoming a blob of flesh stuck inside a heap of mangled, very expensive* metal. Maybe you’re better off with the FF, or the new GTC4 Lusso, with their fancy all-wheel-drive trickery and traction control. But most things automotive things are slightly differently celebrated in Japan, and this video shows how.
The video’s called “Snow Camp Feat. Ferrari F40,” and it’s from Red Bull, who’re doing what they do best – glorifying speed with remarkable visual allure. Shot in Japan, on the snowy hills of Nagano, the video stars a F40, adorned for the mission with quadruple rally lamps and some camping gear/luggage strapped to the roof. The F40, with these outdoorsy fitments looks positively ballistic, especially with chained rear tires to mince the snow. Its driver, a certain Takeshi, who loves his noodles and camping, plays with the iconic Ferrari in the snow like never seen before, turbo-lag and no electronics withstanding.
*some buyers have reportedly paid as much as US$1.6 million (INR 10.6 Crores) for one!
