Remember the Maruti 800 Convertible built by Mr.Jagjit Singh of JS Designs from New Delhi? Well, it’s back in an all-new avatar, and how!
If you want one for yourself, the cost incurred for this modification is INR 3.50 lakh, and JS Design insists that the donor car be a 2006-07-08 model in good running condition. The modification takes approximately 3 months to complete.
But as you can see, it’s isn’t a patchy modification by any measure. All the body panels are completely new, and has been built/fabricated from scratch. Considerable effort has gone to achieve the high levels of fit and finish.
Compared to the previous model, this one receives a widebody kit that includes flared wheel arches, new side skirts and new bumper work. The bright yellow paintjob is also new, and replaces the racy red on the earlier version of the car. New, blacked out alloy wheels get beefier rubber for company.
The front grille has disappeared for a cleaner look, and the standard headlamps have been replaced by Fiat Palio units with LED strips. The new bumpers comprise of various vents and gashes, most of them being functional ones, but most importantly, everything is built to taste.
The side are characterized by faux air vents and creases that completely change the character of the humble 800. Being a roadster, only two doors are there for the taking, each being hand built exclusively for this modification exercise.
The rear sees a complete rework as well, with round tail lamps borrowed from the Chevrolet Spark and a set of twin exhausts to round things off.
The nifty canvas top can be retracted to reveal the tiny roadster’s completely spruced up interiors. The archaic dashboard is freshened up with new Nissan Terrano sourced HVAC vents, a new gear knob, sportier seats, a sports steering wheel and an integrated entertainment system with a LCD head unit.
