So if you’ve been waiting for the Hero HX250R to arrive at your local dealership, it isn’t happening until your wall finds a new calendar for the next year. Hero Motocorp might be the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world by volume, however, the company’s plan to come out with a truly international quarter liter motorcycle this year has been further delayed due to EBR’s bankruptcy, Hero’s partner who played a vital role in the bike’s development.
According to a report, the HX250R project is still in its advanced stages of completion and the bike maker is looking for external help to complete the project, as Hero’s very own R&D centre near Jaipur is still under construction and is expected to resume operations only by the end of this year. The HX250R was initially slated for launch during Q2 or Q4 of FY 2015-16, however, due to their American partner shutting shop, the bike will have to wait for another quarter before it witnesses launch.
First showcased at the Auto Expo in 2014, the Hero HX250R is powered by a 249cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, four-valve motor, which pumps out 31 bhp and 26 Nm of torque. All that power goes to the rear wheel via two selectable modes – Economy and Power. The HX250R also gets an impressive power-to-weight ratio thanks to a wet weight of 139 Kgs.
