The three cylinder Yamaha MT09 has been on the receiving end of praises since launch for its versatility. In fact very soon after its launch, Yamaha unveiled the Street Rally Edition of the MT09 adding that extra dose of fun. And now all thanks to Indonesian Motorcycle Website TMCBlog has revealed 3D renderings of the Yamaha MT09 in a sports touring avatar. Being referred to as the Yamaha MT09X, the 3D renderings come very close to a real motorcycle and look more like patent images.
The basic hardware seems in place as on the original Yamaha MT09 with the three cylinder cross plane engine, chassis, swing-arm and exhausts being non-tinkered with. With a Mini-Me Ducati Multistrada look or do we say Yamaha’s very own Supertenere- the Yamaha MT09X boasts of long travel front suspension, half fairing with upswept touring screen, tall handlebars with handguards and a split seat- all aimed towards dual purpose touring.
We’d say Yamaha’s new three cylinder engine is indeed adaptable to cater to light and multi-purpose platforms- and the 3D renderings whether created or sourced from an insider isn’t really a bad idea if in case Yamaha decides to make one. It would make for a great middle weight sports tourer that would indeed be light on the pocket and fulfill the whims of the touring segment who always dreamed of owning something like a BMW R1200GS Adventure or a Ducati Multistrada.
